Visiting a Kindergarten in Pakruojis ‘Varpelis’

Rasa Šilkaitienė travels to Pakruojis for a visit in the non-state-run Catholic kindergarten ‘Varpelis’

Our first introduction to the Pakruojis region occurred when Fr. Remigijus Čekavičius was visiting Los Angeles in September, 2023. It was here that he extended an invitation for our President to visit the Catholic kindergarten ‘Varpelis’, located in Pakruojis.

Rasa Šilkaitiene acted upon the invitation. Upon her arrival to ‘Varpelis’, she was greeted with a warm welcome from the director of the institution, Ingrida Vaičeliūnienė, and a short tour around the premises of the kindergarten. Funny stories about the little ones’ pranks, their daily activities and worries were a big part of the conversation.

Later, Ingrida Vaičeliūnienė was introduced to the work of Lithuanian Children’s Hope. Rasa Šilkaitienė explained the ways in which the organization could contribute to the well-being of children of Pakruojis, the process for applying for aid, and the type of help that could be expected from the organization.

Currently, the kindergarten ‘Varpelis’ has applied for support to purchase sensory devices for autistic children.
